At URJ 6 Points Sci-Tech West we aim to use science and technology as a portal through which to connect with Judaism. That’s nice, but how do we actually do this? Read more to find out how we connect Sukkot to science!
10th Grade Legacy Project
The Sci-Tech Torah, written by the 6 Points Sci-Tech Community, weaves together texts from the Torah with facts that outline our modern understanding of the history of the world. Because this Torah has been a central ritual object and has grown each summer along with our community, the 10th graders decided to design and create a Torah cover made out of camper t-shirts from the first 5 summers of Sci-Tech as their legacy project.
I Arrived at Camp 25 Years Late
“The wishful part of my latent youth brought me to this camp, but I left with roaring inspiration. These campers, staff, counselors, and instructors are truly remarkable pioneers, forging ahead, discovering knowledge, innovating technology, creating connections, and changing the world.”
All Hands on Deck: TECH Talks Session 3
Our workshop instructors transform the hockey rink into a showroom of the discoveries and creations from each workshop. Take a look around the rink and you’ll see a mini doctor’s office set up for biozone, a ring for our robots, tables of laptops showing off the video games and programs, microscopes to examine the organisms in our water, chemistry experiments bubbling over, and 3D animations projected on the glass.
Workshop Discoveries and TECH Talks
To see the transformation from their first day of workshop when they are staring at the instructor wide eyed with curiosity and confusion, to the TECH talks when they have become experts in their workshop, is magical.

Everyday people make decisions. We decide what clothes to wear, who to interact with, and when to speak our minds. In each act we perform there is potential to do good. Here at Sci-Tech, we have counselors and instructors who help our campers see that potential.
