Monday provided an opportunity to explore the Israel City of Haifa. The morning was spent at the Oceanography Institute, that gives a hands-on opportunity to learn about life under the sea and to observe the impacts of climate change and pollution on our world’s beaches and sea life.

Machonikim in Progress!


Since last Sunday, when the Machonikim joined the Sci-Tech community for the final days of staff week, it has been so much fun to watch the Machonikim take on leadership roles and responsibilities around camp. Before campers arrived, we focused on the difference in role between a Machon and camper, and it was so exciting to have the Machonikim serve as our Sci-Tech Ruach Crew or welcoming committee, greeting campers arriving at camp.

What was eye opening to all of us was how even though Israel and Syria do not get along with each other, this Israeli hospital has taken it upon themselves to care for Syrian civilians. It just goes to show how even with physical barriers separating countries, Israel is breaking down those borders to help people.
