Trip Day Session 3
Trip day provides an opportunity for our campers to observe what they are learning in their workshops in a professional setting.
Making the Mischlahat
I came to Sci-Tech from my home in Nahariya Israel, as one of the 12 Israeli mishlachat for the summer. Mishlachat is the hebrew word for delegation, and at Sci-Tech refers to the Israeli counselors who come to camp as a delegation to bring Israel to the Sci-Tech community.
5 Favorite Ways to Spend Sababa Time
Everyday campers here at Sci-Tech come together as either lower or upper camp for Sababa time on the Main Lawn. They play Gaga, make friendship bracelets, and most importantly spend time together.
Tallit: A Symbol of Unity Among Our URJ Camps
This week, our sister URJ Camp, Camp Coleman in Georgia sent us a tallit, a shawl with four fringes that we wear to remind us of the mizvot that God commanded. It was made in a chug with the intention that this tallit celebrates caring, compassion, healing and love. A tallit just like this was made for each of our URJ camps in memory of those who were killed in the mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida.
Savlanut (Patience) in Animation
This Shabbat, our campers demonstrated their patience (savlanut) through stop motion animations. Stop motion animation takes a lot of patience as it requires many individually photographed frames being pieced together.
Curiosity That Sparks Coexistence
Everything can be broken down into physics and mathematics and in understanding the smallest motions here on Earth, we can in turn understand the laws governing the planets, stars, galaxies, the entire universe; but it all begins with curiosity.
Opening Day Session 3 2018
Opening Day Session 3!
Opening day here at Sci-Tech is something children from all over the country wait for all year. As cars pulled up to the hockey rink, we watched familiar faces and new families arrive.
