My Jewish journey began during my first summer camp session in 2000, and I cannot tell you all how elated I am that, nearly 20 years later, I get to return to the camping world as the Assistant Director of URJ 6 Points Sci-Tech Academy East, and help facilitate the kind of summer camp experience with a unique blend of STEM education and classic camp vibes that a younger Harrison would have loved, and that an older Harrison is proud to be a part of.

Pi Day 2019
Pi Day is foremost a celebration of mathematics and a recognition of the importance of STEM studies in today’s world. But it is more than just math. There is after all, a kelp forest off the coast in Carmel, and Tu BiShvat compels us to value trees.
Planting Seeds with Savlanut (Patience) on Tu BiShvat
Tu BiShvat is also a holiday about Savlanut (patience), one of our core Sci-Tech values. When you plant an apple tree you don’t immediately have apples in your backyard and when spring comes our gardens aren’t immediately filled with blossoming flowers.
The Wonder of Mars Insight and Other Space Questions
The words “Touchdown Confirmed!” caused an eruption of cheers, hugs and high fives today, and it wasn’t from the NFL, but rather the words of the announcer from the command center at the NASA/JPL Laboratories in Pasadena, California as the Insight probe landed on Mars. As I watched the landing unfold live on NASA TV, you could see the nervous excitement of each person in the command center over the course of the 7 minutes from the time the probe descended through the atmosphere to the time it landed on Martian soil. It was nothing less than mesmerizing!
My Mother's Secret Camp Nickname
On my first trip back home after my first summer working at 6 Points Sci-Tech Academy I uncovered my mother’s secret identity: Cherub. Cherub was my mother’s camp name from a summer camp she worked at for 9 years.
