Tallit: A Symbol of Unity Among Our URJ Camps

This week, our sister URJ Camp, Camp Coleman in Georgia sent us a tallit, a shawl with four fringes that we wear to remind us of the mizvot that God commanded. It was made in a chug with the intention that this tallit celebrates caring, compassion, healing and love. A tallit just like this was made for each of our URJ camps in memory of those who were killed in the mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida.
Savlanut (Patience) in Animation

This Shabbat, our campers demonstrated their patience (savlanut) through stop motion animations. Stop motion animation takes a lot of patience as it requires many individually photographed frames being pieced together.

Everything can be broken down into physics and mathematics and in understanding the smallest motions here on Earth, we can in turn understand the laws governing the planets, stars, galaxies, the entire universe; but it all begins with curiosity.
