• 7 Decades of Innovation in Israel: Science and Technology Partnerships

    On my most recent visit to Israel – in preparation for this summer’s URJ Sci-Tech Israel program – I noticed the presence of U.S. companies. Throughout Israel’s “Silicon Wadi,” the counterpart to our Silicon Valley, are research and development facilities for Google, Microsoft, Apple, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and others, intermixed with a vast array of Israeli start-ups, including Mobile-Eye, Orcam, StoreDot, and others. The foundations for many of these research collaborations were establish during Israel’s third decade.

  • Women Facing West: Standing up to Gender Discrimination at the Western Wall


    One of the core values that was seamlessly incorporated into the Sci-Tech Israel program that helped to inspire the creation of Women Facing West was kesher, or connection. Further deepening my connection to Judaism by visiting Israel, as well as maintaining my connection to my Jewish community in California, I have been able to shed light on this extremely controversial subject within my own community, and will hopefully bring about change to the archaic Orthodox traditions that prevent women from praying freely at the Western Wall.

  • Israel Changed the World I Can Too


    From 3D Printing labs, to ice cream technology, to a kibbutz building armored cars for the Israel Defense Force, there is something for everyone! Every teen returned with a new perspective on Israel as a global innovator, and together they deepened their relationships to one another and to their Jewish identity. Our teens came home saying, "Israel changed the world. I can too!" Whether your teen has been to Israel before or this is their first time, this is the most unique Israel trip out there!

    I could not be more inspired by the leadership that has blossomed in our group, during the past two and a half weeks together. Each member has grown as an individual and therefore, strengthened the community. I know that when we depart Israel in just a few days, 28 new Jewish leaders will be returning to the United States.
