  • Women Facing West: Standing up to Gender Discrimination at the Western Wall


    One of the core values that was seamlessly incorporated into the Sci-Tech Israel program that helped to inspire the creation of Women Facing West was kesher, or connection. Further deepening my connection to Judaism by visiting Israel, as well as maintaining my connection to my Jewish community in California, I have been able to shed light on this extremely controversial subject within my own community, and will hopefully bring about change to the archaic Orthodox traditions that prevent women from praying freely at the Western Wall.

  • What Time is It? “Maritime!” – Reflections on my Visit to Newman by the Bay


    A little over 2 months ago, Camp Newman's beloved site of 20 years at Porter Creek, CA was destroyed in the Tubbs fires in Napa Valley. A little over a month ago, Camp Newman announced Camp Newman by the Bay, where they would host their summer home for summer 2018. All along, the Newman team, has said that camp is a community and is not tied to a particular place.
