Travel to Camp

There are a number of options for campers arriving at camp. Families are free to select which ever method(s) fit best with their schedule, plans, and budget. For any travel related questions, please email scitechtravel@urj.org or call the main office 857-246-8677.

Drive to Camp

Families are welcome to drive their campers to Sci-Tech. We are located on the campus of Governor’s Academy, and the check-in process takes place at the Hockey Rink parking lot. Arrivals times for cars are between 9:30 AM ET and Noon ET on Opening Day (Tuesday). Enrolled families who indicate they are arriving by car will be sent a form in May to request their preferred 30-minute drop-off window. Families remain in the car during check-in, driving from station to station, and can exit the car at the end for a big hug and kiss goodbye.

Drop off is at the Hockey Rink Parking lot.

Fly to Boston Logan (BOS):

Camper flies alone as Unaccompanied Minor

Campers can fly into Boston Logan Airport (BOS) without an adult chaperone as an “Unaccompanied Minor” (UM). A Sci-Tech staff member will be waiting at the gate, wearing a staff shirt and holding a clipboard containing the camper’s information and photo, so as soon as the camper steps off the plane they will be greeted. They will be brought to the baggage claim to pick up any checked bags, and then meet up with other incoming campers to take a private bus to camp.

  • Flights must arrive within the designated travel window.
  • Flights should be non-stop.
  • There may be an additional fee imposed by the airline for UM travel.

Campers may also be able to fly as a “Minor traveling alone” (ages vary by airline). We will do our best to meet them at the gate, but we cannot guarantee it for minors traveling alone.

      •
Fly with Camper, then Handover at Airport

Parents or guardians can fly into Boston Logan Airport (BOS) with their camper, and meet a Sci-Tech staff member at baggage claim. There the camper is handed over to Sci-Tech staff, and we will bring them up to camp on a bus with other airport arrivals. To select this option, families must call or email us at 857-247-8677 or scitechtravel@urj.org.

Fly with Camper, then Rent a Car

Parents or guardians can fly into Boston Logan Airport (BOS) with their camper, and rent a car and drive up to camp. The trip is 45-60 minutes depending on traffic. Families choosing this option will then continue with the steps outlined in “Drive to Camp”.

All campers must arrive on Opening Day (Tuesday). However, families flying internationally or from the West Coast/Texas/Louisiana can arrive on Monday evening/the night before Opening Day within the designated arrival window.

More detailed information will be sent to enrolled families, as well as a travel form to indicate mode of travel.

Getting Luggage to camp

There are 3 basic ways for luggage to arrive at camp:

  • Luggage can be brought on opening day, in cars or as checked bags.
  • Luggage can be brought to camp the Monday night before Opening Day, during approved hours.
  • Luggage can be shipped to camp ahead of time, using our luggage shipping partner.

We recommend either of the last two methods above, so when a camper arrives in their room, their luggage is waiting for them. When it is dropped off with them on opening day, it can take some time for our logistics team to bring their luggage to their room.
