Every day at URJ 6 Points Sci-Tech is a special day, but birthdays are an extra special day! Campers and counselors receive extra special treatment starting from the moment they wake up. It is a Sci-Tech tradition for counselors to decorate the door frame of campers’ dorm rooms so they start their morning with fun decorations.

Next up is Boker Big Bang, which is part of our morning ritual. Every morning, we have an exploding experiment, and when we have a birthday, the celebrated person gets to wear a special tie-dyed lab coat, and is outfitted with safety goggles, and is invited to participate in the experiment. It’s an explosive way to kick off their special day.

The fun doesn’t end there. During lunch the entire Chadar Ochel (dining hall) sings Happy Birthday in English, Hebrew, and the person’s native language. Getting to learn and hear the birthday song from around the world is something the entire camp enjoys.

The birthday person gets to hold a very special Sci-Tech electric birthday candle to “blow out” and they get a cake that is large enough to share with their entire hall. Everyone loves the cake and it’s a rare occasion when campers get dessert during lunch.

A Sci-Tech birthday wouldn’t be complete without a special present – a Sci-Tech star named after them. Sci-Tech has its own star registry and every year someone has a birthday here at camp, they receive their very own star.  While a Sci-Tech birthday star is only available to and exclusive few, it is now possible to dedicate a Sci-Tech Star as a gift, or in honor of a loved one, or to commemorate a special occasion.

The donation for the Sci-Tech Star dedication goes directly to supporting Sci-Tech and all of our amazing programs.
