The days between each session, called “Intersession,” are filled with special activities for the campers who stay with us. Having three shorter sessions that can be attended in either 2-week, 4 week or 6-week chunks is just one of the ways that Sci-Tech provides an experience for each camper that fits them best. The days between our 2-week sessions have a wide range of campers from international folks, our older campers who are savoring every moment, and our younger campers from around the country that have a wide range of school ending days and start days.

We caught up with some of the campers and staff who are part of intersession to hear from them what they like best about the days in between.

“As a counselor I like intersession because for counselors who are transitioning to new teams, we get time to know each other really well and prepare for the campers coming soon,” said Emma Cameron who is a unit counselor this year.

“I like having time to do special intersession things,” said camper Joseph Spitzer during Sababa as he demonstrated how to ‘play the spoons’. “I didn’t know you could play the spoons until the DFP video during Tech Talk. I just learned this morning.”

This was no ordinary Sababa, the relaxed schedule gave campers more time to enjoy their favorite special activities like, staying cool with new and funky sprinklers, or playing kickball until the sunset, or chilling with friends and learning new card games or reading.

And that was just the first part of Intersession. While the food is always good at Sci-Tech, intersession campers were served super cool Tetris-shaped tater tots and enjoyed ice cream from the kitchen.

Intersession is in full swing! Everyone got the coveted intersession t-shirt, (a Pokémon trainer with the Sci-Tech values) had the privilege of experiencing a “taste” of workshops through rotations, and even get intersession-only Frosty-Frost rooms. (Frosty-Frost is named for the academic building called “Frost” and is a popular evening program during the summer.)  To say the least, the entire intersession group is feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to great everyone for Session 2 tomorrow!
