Rachel Shapiro, Assistant Camp Director
Rachel Shapiro is thrilled to join the Sci-Tech family as assistant director of Sci-Tech West. As a woman in STEM and a product of URJ camping, she is ready to combine her passions in order to make the Sci-Tech West dream come to life. She has spent five of the past six years at the URJ Kutz Camp, serving as the RA Coordinator before coming to Sci-Tech East in 2017 as the program director.
Rachel graduated in 2017 from Northeastern University magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. She has experience working as a product development engineer on medical devices, research engineer on drug delivery devices, and a pharmaceutical consultant at McKinsey & Co. During her time at Northeastern, she was a founding member of the on-campus product development studio, an executive board member of the society of women engineers chapter, a tour guide, and a biomedical researcher.
Rachel spends her free time exploring new yoga studios, travelling, and SCUBA diving. She loves meeting new people and sharing her love for STEM with others.
Aimee Sesar, Registrar/Camp Administrator
Aimee was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She spent the majority of her life looking forward to her amazing, transformative summers spent at Camp Hess Kramer where she spent 8 years as a camper and 1 year as staff. She attended American University (Go Eagles!) where she studied Communications and Jewish Studies and loved living in DC. After graduation, she headed back to Los Angeles to marry Josh Sesar whom she met at Camp!
During the last 20 years, Aimee has become very involved in Camp Harmony which is a non-profit that provides an overnight camping experience twice a year for underprivileged children around Los Angeles. She worked in the office for three years and then continued her involvement by working on fundraising events and during camp sessions. She has become quite the tie-dye aficionado!
Aimee went back to work full time at AJC (American Jewish Committee) in Development in April 2013. She spent 5 years engaging and interacting with donors and working on many fundraising events. Jewish camping was always in her heart and on her mind, so, she was so excited to re-visit her roots and jump right into the job at 6 Points.
Aimee lives in Los Angeles with her husband Josh and her two daughters Emma and Chloe who are thankfully both obsessed with summer camp.
