Rainy days at Sci-Tech never dampen our spirits. From the gorgeous landscaping that our campers get to see as they dash between raindrops, to the daily events of which campers get a special view as they are held inside, like Boker Big Bang, rain days are a lot of fun.

One camper recounted the thing they like about rain days is that even though it’s wet outside, it doesn’t get muddy outside and my area stays clean. Another camper who has been attending Sci-Tech for three years, explained that the workshops aren’t interrupted by the rain, which is good because they are looking forward to going to workshop today.

As the first full day of Session 2, today is an extra exciting day for new and returning campers who not only get to do workshop, but also new chugim (electives) and kinesthetic. Chugim this session includes Data Champs, 3D Printing, Chinese, Sci-Tech Times, Biochemistry, Chess, Magic the Gathering, Arduino, TTRPG, Minecraft, Egg Drop, Storytelling, Web Design, Genetics, Rocketry, Visual Effects, Dungeons and Dragons, Drones, LARP, Song Leading and Audio Tech. Each week campers choose two chugim to participate in every day. Half-way through the session they get to choose two new electives.

Becca Tullman, who has been a Jewish educator for three decades and is working as an Inclusion Specialist this summer here at Sci-Tech supports campers during all activities including the chugim. “I’ve spent a lot of time observing the chugim and from what I have seen, the campers are able to dig into more complex projects and don’t have anxiety if they don’t finish what they want that day. Because the campers stick with the same chugim all week it’s easy for them to pick-up where they left off the day before. ”

Campers get their new chugim on Tuesdays. If you have a camper with us this year, keep an eye out on CampInTouch for daily pictures. If you do not have a camper with us yet and would like to follow-along with our summer, make sure to check us out on social media (Facebook, Instagram) or keep following this blog.
