Check out the Session 1 Video and Slideshow!

Session 1 of 2025 appropriately ended yesterday after Havdalah.

Shabbat is always a special time of the week but even more so when it’s the last day of the session, filled with both Jewish and Sci-Tech traditions. The weather was perfect yesterday as campers closed out the final Shabbat of the session, took bunk pictures, enjoyed Shalectives, and prepared for TECHTalks.  TECHTalks are the final presentation by campers of their workshop projects. The presentation happens in two parts, first in the PAC were the Digital Film Production workshop gets to showcase their movies on the big screen, and then after dinner in a science fair-like setup campers get to present their projects to their peers and counselors.

Most of all, the last day is filled with campers who are leaving prepare to transition out of “camp world” and back into their homelife. Transitions at camp are thoughtfully planned out throughout the session as campers move from meals, to activities, to their halls. The last night of camp is no exception. Campers are provided with autograph books where they can collect the names of their dormmates, counselors, and instructors.

Seeing all different kinds of campers experience the last night of camp is amazing. Many campers who, in their outside life might be hesitant to ask someone to sign a yearbook or shirt, at camp confidently walk up to other Sci-Tech people and ask them to sign their autograph book. Other campers who perhaps are the last to raise their hand in a large group, can be seen confidently explaining their poster during TECHTalks.

As parent’s pick up their campers today, they can ask their campers about things like their workshops, the last day of camp, the best meal, and their favorite elective. Just as we at camp share with family and loved ones the incredible things your child is doing while in Byfield, we would love to hear from you about your child throughout the year and hope they join us for our many year-round activities. Keep your eyes peeled for our end-of-session survey.
