What are They?
Madua the Llama is our camp mascot at Sci-Tech West. Both Madua and Lama are Hebrew words meaning why. Asking questions is an integral part of the Sci-Tech West experience and philosophy. In fact, Curiosity is one of our five core values at camp (along with Heritage, Innovation, Patience and Perseverance, and Radical Acceptance). We wanted to give kids the opportunity to practice these values and some of our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills as well as 21st century soft skills like problem solving, working with others, following written instructions, etc. all while learning about their Jewish heritage even when they are not at camp. That is why we created Madua Crates: the first Jewish, STEM-based, subscription box.
Once a month, your child will receive a box in the mail containing a fun, interactive, activity that will teach/reinforce their STEM skill-set while they learn about a Jewish tradition, ritual object, holiday, or value. Each box will have all of the materials needed for the project as well as a digital workbook with instructions, information about the Jewish and STEM components, and puzzles.
How Do I Get One? (Families)
Madua Crates are available on a monthly subscription bases.
How Much Does it Cost
Madua Crates are available for $38 a month on a monthly subscription basis.
What is Inside?
Project: Each Madua Crate consists of a small box containing everything needed to complete a fun and educational project. Each project will teach about a Jewish holiday, concept, or ritual object through Science Technology, Engineering or Math.
Workbook: Each Madua Crate also includes a link to a workbook that contains information about the Jewish and STEM components of the project as well as instructions and a bonus activity.
Video Call: Each Madua Crate includes a video call with all of the other subscribers as well as Sci-Tech staff. This is a great place to ask questions, show and tell finished projects, and make new friends.
How Do I Get Some? (Schools/Youth Programs)
