Immidiate Past Chair, URJ 6 Points Sci-Tech Academy
When I thought about how to explain what Sci-Tech means to me, I felt overwhelmed. How do I put into words what my children and I have experienced in the past 11 summers?
My children found something at this camp that I can’t quantify. They found their people. They found the best versions of themselves. They found a connection to Judaism here that they simply would not have found anywhere else. This community embraced them with patience and affection. They’ve grown up here feeling appreciated and respected for exactly who they are — free to be their true selves.
Here’s the part I didn’t expect: this camp didn’t just impact my children. It profoundly changed me too. Somewhere in these 11 summers, I rediscovered my own curiosity and found an opportunity for leadership where I could have a real impact. I found connections with people I never would have met otherwise. And I found that I, too, could be my true and best self here.
So thank you, Sci-Tech. Thank you for thirteen summers of discovery. As we step into this next chapter — as Sci-Tech and Arts — I know whatever comes next, it will still be this: a place where people connect with themselves and with each other. I can’t wait to keep growing here.

She resides in Larchmont with her husband, three children and dog Healey. Michele is an active leader of the Larchmont Temple and Trustee of the Board of Education for the Mamaroneck Union Free School District.
