Our first Shabbat of the summer as a full Sci-Tech community was beyond beautiful, as campers and staff took a break from a busy and exciting first week to refresh, connect with friends and celebrate the special place camp is. We began by forming a circle on our main lawn, and joined in song as we welcomed Shabbat together. Friday night dinner is a special meal at camp, as we serve food family-style and have the opportunity to see our camp core values dance in the flames of the Shabbat lights and throughout the Chadar Ochel (dining hall). Services include visual t’filah with camper reflections on how they see connections, discoveries, respect, patience and curiosity in our daily interactions. Shabbat Shirah (song session) and Israeli dancing led by our Mishlachat (Israeli staff delegation) is ruach (spirit)-filled, and is a fun opportunity to sing and dance with friends! Shabbat morning t’filah was led and inspired by our campers, with help from our visiting faculty of Rabbis and Cantor. As we say goodbye to this special part of our week, we look forward to many exciting things to come in the week ahead. Shabbat Shalom and shavua tov – here’s to a great new week!
